Earlier this year, King of the Hammers took place in the Southern California desert, bringing a massive collection of off-road vehicles from around the world to the area to compete in what has become one of the largest off-road events in the nation.

Casey Currie had to get his rig ready, and decided to time lapse the process and condense it down to a minute, which really shows just how much goes into one of these builds. It’s a great way to see the team in action, working with and around one another to piece the badass race Jeep together. Starting with a bare chassis and engine, Currie and crew get to work, starting with the massive shocks, which are obviously a crucial component on any off-road ride. They slide the beefy front axle underneath and bolt the front suspension together. From there, they do some plumbing and add a few accessories under the hood and getting the engine ready to fire, and the transmission is jacked into place and bolted to the back of the engine.

The action moves out back next, where the huge rear suspension comes together much like the front did. With the body panels bolted on, the wheels and tires are next to be added, but there is still a little more detail work to be done. With everything wired, bolted and screwed into place, the rig finally rolls out of the shop and heads to sling some dust in the desert.

As the summer winds down, many of the teams will be beginning to prepare for KOH 2018, and there is sure to be plenty more footage like this from the different camps as they begin to get things ready. We’ll be on the look out for anything awesome and bring it to you as soon as we get our hands on it!
